iPhone 13 again supposed to come with ‘Touch ID’ on-screen

Apple is also featured in the news about its 2021 iPhone 13 lineup, which already has a long list of rumors and leaks. Joining the current ones is a new leak, which implies the return of the Touch ID. This is something we’ve been hearing for a while now, and with new details on the iPhone 13, there’s a possibility that this could turn out to be real. Read on to learn more about this.

iPhone 13 is most likely to carry back the Touch ID

A new study by MacRumors indicates that Apple’s iPhone 13 would welcome back the Touch ID biometry that Apple ditched in 2017. However, this isn’t going to be the Touch ID we’ve seen in previous iPhones. According to Barclays analyst Andrew Gardiner (and three more people), the 2021 iPhones will have an under-the-screen Touch ID, which will mark the entry of the tech to the iPhone for the first time. This will be in addition to the Face ID, which is the latest choice for biometric authentication on an iPhone.

This information, which has previously been rumored, if it turns out to be accurate, would make the iPhone 13 the first Apple device to have a combination of fingerprint scanner and facial recognition that has existed for years in a number of Android smartphones. To note, Apple bid farewell to the physical fingerprint scanner in 2017 when it introduced the iPhone X with a notch. So bringing it back, that could be interesting, too, in the form of an under-the-screen sensor.

It is also suggested that the iPhone 13 would implement a ‘more closely integrated version of the existing standardized lighting system,’ which would require less than the current one. This is something we’ve seen before, too.

The smaller notch is predicted to further decrease in size by 2022, provided that Apple is most likely to follow the Time-of-Flight (ToF) setup for the Face ID. This strongly hints at the 2022 iPhones punch-hole display, which was leaked again earlier.

Although there are no specific specifics, Apple is expected to launch four iPhones: the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Mini, the iPhone 13 Pro, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. All devices are expected to see efficiency, camera, and further improvements.
