Apple introduces a new ‘Apple Teacher Portfolio’ as well as other tools for educators
Apple Teacher Portfolio, a new “professional learning recognition badge educators can collect through Apple Teacher Learning Center,” was revealed today by Apple. Anyone Can Create curriculum, Schoolwork, and Classroom applications will also be updated.
The new Apple Teacher Portfolio is defined by Apple as a “recognition badge” that educators can obtain through the Apple Teaching Learning Center. The method is self-paced and intended to assist teachers in implementing various strategies. Apple Teacher Portfolio is a new appreciation badge that educators can receive through the self-paced professional learning program Apple Teacher Learning Center. The free offering assists educators in making the most of Apple technology at each stage of lesson planning in order to help students unlock prior information, explore a subject more thoroughly, and apply understanding. Using apps like Keynote, GarageBand, and iMovie, educators can improve their work with engaging daily lessons for students using 21 models and lesson ideas inspired by the Anyone Can Create project guides.
Anyone Can Create updates add support for the most recent iPad features as well as apps like iMovie, Clips, and GarageBand. This includes new functionality for the Drawing guide, Photos app integration, and deeper podcasting integration with GarageBand.
Finally, new remote learning-friendly features have been added to Schoolwork and Classroom. Schoolwork now allows you to conveniently share projects with colleagues by exporting and importing them. There are also navigation enhancements to allow for faster access to assignments.
Teachers can now communicate with students remotely using the Classroom app. For the first time, the Classroom app can help students learn outside of the classroom. Classroom has always brought students and teachers together in the same physical space, and teachers will soon be able to invite remote students to enter a Classroom session. While linked, teachers will be able to use the same Classroom features they are used to, such as directing students to specific applications, displaying their screen, and viewing a description of their participation.
Classroom for Mac was also redesigned with Mac Catalyst, adding the iPad experience to the Mac.
A new design and improved smart groups provide teachers with a quick glimpse of their students’ status, such as if they’re online, joining locally or remotely, using iPad or Mac, or whether a device’s battery is low. All of this material is simple to find and read, allowing teachers to make the most of their students’ learning time.
Apple Teacher Portfolio is now available via the Apple Teacher Learning Center, according to Apple. The Anyone Can Create guides are free to download from Apple Books, and new versions of Schoolwork and Classroom are now available in beta from AppleSeed for IT.
